DIY I Tried: Homemade Dog Treats

Ok you dog lovers out there. I have a fun little DIY project - homemade dog treats.
This recipe goes under the category of "DIY I Tried" since I didn't make it myself.

I actually took this recipe from another blog I regularly follow (Ramshackle Glam).
It's a very simple and easy recipe recipe. The best part is that it's only four ingredients, all of which are usually already in the kitchen. The result is unsweetened peanut butter cookies. While I didn't try any treats myself, Lyla sure approved of the results.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup peanut butter
3/4 cup milk

I also added two vital ingredients for any recipe in my house:

Music and a happy little helper who just happens to love being sung to.

Preheat the oven to 375F.
Mix together the flour and baking powder, and add the milk. Then start to fold the peanut butter in. Once everything is mixed, flour your countertop or other surface and roll out the mixture, keeping it fairly thin.

Next you cut out the shapes for your treats. I opted to do hearts since that was the smallest cookie cutter I have. You can always do something freehand, too. Just remember that these are dog treats (and not regular cookies) so you want to keep them small.

Line them up on a greased baking sheet and cook for 15-20 minutes, depending on your oven. You want them to be crispy and golden brown. 15 was a plenty for me - my first batch resulted in some burnt cookie buns.

Let the cookies cool completely so you don't burn your pooch's mouth.
Otherwise, serve and enjoy!

This is the butt of one happy pooch.

Crazy Hour

We went to a wedding a few weeks ago for friends of ours that Jordan works with.
Halfway through the reception the groom warned us, "Just wait until Crazy Hour."

Crazy hour?

We had never heard of it, but quickly learned what Crazy Hour was. A Venezuelan wedding tradition (as told by my friend Lily, the Venezuelan firecracker seen below) come Crazy Hour, laundry baskets are brought out filled with all sorts of goodies: boas, beads, hats, noisemakers, glow sticks, sunglasses and so on.  Everyone dresses up and, well, goes crazy.

I think we could all use a little Crazy Hour from time to time.

Mellow Yellow

As long as I can remember my favorite color has been yellow. Bright yellow, mustard yellow, pastel - all yellows (but mustard has a special place in my heart). My old blog layout was even yellow. Don't get me wrong, I love me some teals and corals, but yellow is my numba one. Anytime I'm looking for inspiration online or in stores I am instantly attracted to anything yellow. If I have a choice of colors, yellow is my go-to.

Surprisingly I don't have a lot of yellow in our house.

I purchased a canvas at Michael's a few weeks ago along with some mustard yellow acrylic paint. I have yet to decide how I want to go about this piece of art. So I went around searching for some inspiration.

I haven't decided for sure yet where I want to put the canvas. I'm thinking either in the laundry room (as part of my sprucing up the laundry room.) Another option would be the living room shelves that I've been struggling to decorate (here and here). Of course there's always the dining room, too...

I'm thinking I may need to purchase a few more canvases.

Happy Friday!

You may have noticed I'm working on updating the look of the blog.
Bear with me as I am learning this as I go.

I've added a Facebook page (still very under construction),
as well as a SKOL button to the right if you'd like to add to your page.

I'm back to work Monday and I'm not sure yet how it will affect my blogging. Expect some slacking in the first week or two, but I won't be MIA for long. I've got that To-Do list to work on after all!

Have a great weekend!
