I Have Crafty Friends, Too!

I wanted to share some photos friends of mine sent me with projects they did for their own homes.

First my friend Amy has been living in her apartment for a few months now. She's been on a mission to thrift and DIY her new place as much as possible - which I love! (Meaning I will have more projects to share.) A while back she snagged these great patio chairs from a yard sale for $20.00. They came in simple white metal with white seat covers. Amy thought they could use a mini facelift.

After removing the seats, Amy gave the chairs a little TLC by scraping off some of the rust and doing a coat of primer, followed by this gorgeous blue paint.

How great do the chairs look with the blue? It makes such a huge difference. I can't believe someone woudl have kept them white. The blue is such a great pop of color for outdoors, too.

My next DIY friend is Michelle. I'm sure by now you all know I love a good Anthropologie-inspired project, especially when it's something Anthro sells that can be recreated for a fraction of the price. Michelle recently sent me a picture of her own 'look for less' Anthropologie-inspired project. Anthro had been selling this cool collage of mirrors as one wall piece. Of course it's pretty expensive, but such a cool idea. It seems that it could be pretty easily replicated using a few thrifted mirrors.

Unfortunately, Anthro no longer sells this mirror collage.

Michelle sent me this photo showing how she made her own version of the Anthropologie mirror collage.

I love that she used different colors for the frames. The yellow frame is the only real mirror. The others are actually picture frames that she had glass cut to fit. I really love this project and have been trying to find a place in our home that I can do this project myself. Maybe the dining room wall? I need to ask Michelle for her secret in recreating this project.

Thanks Amy and Michelle! I can't wait to see more. Have you done any cool DIY projects you'd like to share? Or your own version of an Anthropologie 'look for less'? Feel free to email them over to simplekindoflifeblog@gmail.com. I'd love to share them!
