Happy Monday, all! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays. We sure did and I'll be sharing some pictures from Christmas and New Years later this week.
I know I sound like a broken record when it comes to updating the guest room.
I've mentioned several times my desire to spruce it up.

I've mentioned several times my desire to spruce it up.
I'm finally ready to make a move. I've been pinning ideas like crazy the past few weeks.
I've gone back and forth regarding how I wanted to tackle this room. First I decided to leave the paint on the walls and just work with it. I had painted the walls green to go with the Pottery Barn bedding my aunt bought for me a few years ago. I decided to keep it green when I was pregnant and wanted to just get the room done. I figured I could use the green and make it work. It looks nice, but because of how small the room is, along with the fact that it gets limited natural light, the green walls are just too dark.
My next plan was to go the infamous yellow and grey route. I mentioned before how much I love the color yellow - it has been my favorite color for quite some time. The guest room has grey carpet that's in fine condition so it won't be getting replaced anytime soon. I figured I could take when I had and work with it by painting all the walls white except using a mustard yellow accent wall behind the bed.
I had that plan for a few weeks before scrapping it for my new plan.
White and Gold.
I've mentioned my love for gold lately and think it will look great as an accent in the guest room.
Here are some pictures I took a few weeks ago showing how the guest bedroom currently looks.
As you can see, the bedroom is sort of long and narrow, leaving few options for furniture placement. This means the bed, nightstands and dresser will most likely stay where the currently reside. The wicker chair and floor lamp are goners along with the wooden white curtain rod and the Audrey pictures.
The walls will be painted a nice, clean white color. I'm debating if I want to go white-white or something with a soft grey-tone. I really like Martha Stewart's "Lamb" that I used for the stripes in Lucy's room and may just go with that color.
I have a number of gold accents I'm planning like a collage of gold frames on one wall, new knobs from Anthropologie for the closet door, and new light fixtures. More on these details in another post.
Here are a few pictures of white rooms with gold accents that I'm using for inspiration:
I'm absolutely in love with Lauren from Pure Style Home's master bedroom.
I love, love the bed frame and the light fixture is gorgeous.
I like the idea of DIY-ing some sort of gold lettering as a message to our guests.
This bench is gorgeous.
Gold frame collage is definitely in the plans.
White with gold accents.
Loving the lamp, mirror and light fixture.

I'm super anxious to get started on this room.
First step is painting. Next step - details, details, details.
I LOVE the white/gold theme. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
